Split Fiction
Variety has reported from this year's Game Developers Conference that a bidding war is underway for the film adaptation of Split Fiction. Split Fiction is a split-screen multiplayer cooperative game developed by the Swedish indie studio Hazelight, known for their previous genre-defining game, It Takes Two. The publication notes that Story Kitchen, the media company responsible for assembling the It Takes Two film adaptation package subsequently acquired by Amazon, is actively seeking actors, writers, and a director for the new project.
While specific companies vying for the game's rights were not disclosed, Variety states that offers are coming from "multiple top Hollywood studios." Split Fiction was designed with a focus on split-screen gaming through both local and online play. Players can control one of two main characters, Zoe and Mio, as they traverse various worlds and overcome different obstacles. The game's narrative centers around the two authors who are invited by Rader Publishing to test a new simulation technology, enabling them to live out their fictional stories as reality.
